Among Thuringia's greatest assets is its rich historical past. Martin Luther translated the New Testament from Greek to German while a refugee at Wartburg Castle, a favorite tourist attraction. Johann Sebastian Bach was born in the town of Eisenach in 1685. The famous philosophers and writers Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Friedrich von Schiller wrote their greatest works in the city of Weimar.
Vacationeers in the state of Thuringia should make plans to visit the city of Weimar, the city of Eisenach with the Wartburg Castle, the Rennsteig, Germany's oldest hiking trail, the city of Erfurt, the city of Suhl and the Meiningen Theater.
