Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is referred to as the "land of a thousand lakes". Lake Muritz, the largest of the area lakes, is 117 square kilometers. The state is abundant with natural beauty from it's lush woodlands to the pristine beauty of the northern coast.
The array of natural and man-made scenery in this state is overwhelming. A vacationer to this state should make a point to see the Schwerin Chateau, Granitz Castle in Templeberg, the harbors at Rostock and Warnemuende, the coast at Hiddensee and the chalk cliffs at Rugen.
